Manchester City and FC Barcelona are reportedly chasing a player regarded by many to be the "new Sergio Busquets", and it seems the Citizens are leading the race.
According to Spanish publication Sport, the LaLiga and Premier League clubs both want to sign Borussia Dortmund starlet Julian Weigl.
The Blaugrana have apparently been scouting the midfielder for a number of years, but could lose out on the midfielder due to their heavy spending in the past few months.
Weigl, who is highly rated among the European elite, apparently reminds City boss Guardiola of Busquets, a player he gave his senior debut to at the Catalan club in 2008.
It has been suggested that the English side will offer the Bundesliga club about €40 million (R579 million) for the 22-year-old, who many would expect to replace the ageing Fernandinho.
The Germany international is known for the way he directs and dictates play in midfield, leading to the comparisons with Spain's Busquets.
